A Little About Me

I am...

  • a proud mom of 2 beautiful daughters.
  • married to a wonderful husband for over 25+ years.
  • a lover of travel, reading, long walks, nature, cafés, farmer markets, golf, dogs, spending time with my family, and self-improvement (not necessarily in that order).
  • Registered Nurse, BSN.
  • National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC).
  • Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Practitioner (FDNP)
  • Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC).
  • HeartMath® Certified Practitioner.
  • Functional Microbiome Educator.

Most importantly, I am passionate about helping people.

It is the main reason I went into nursing–there was nothing else I wanted to do.

Even though I enjoyed what I was doing in my nursing career, I found out very quickly I was helping care for patients but not actually helping them make a difference in improving their overall chronic illness outcomes.

Over 10 years ago I came across Functional Medicine. It was my Ah-ha moment that changed the course of both my personal and professional life. It changed my view of how I am practicing as a Registered Nurse and how I want to live my life.

My journey to discovering and becoming certified in Functional Medicine is multi-layered. First, to improve my own health. Second, to figure out the struggling health of my second daughter. Third, wanting to improve the health outcomes of patients struggling within the current healthcare system.

I have had migraines since 16 years of age, severe eczema since the age of 18, bouts of fatigue, joint and muscle pain,  uncomfortable belly bloat, and lets not forget the year after year roller-coaster ride of losing weight and gaining it back again … all while maintaining a “healthy” diet and exercise regimen.

The use of over-the-counter and prescription medications for migraines, eczema and pain only slightly masked the symptoms and let's not forget about the weight. A constant struggle to maintain my weight seemed unmanageable at times, especially with midlife approaching. Why? Because the root cause of my symptoms were not being addressed.

It was through this journey, I started to see the powerful relationship between lifestyle factors and symptoms, health and wellness.

Also, I realized that being healthy is not about a rigid diet, excessive exercise or the need to get to the perfect goal weight. It's about listening to my body and treating myself with respect and compassion.  It's about living my life with balance.  So, feeling my best is no longer a constant daily struggle.

Therefore, as a Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® Practitioner, I have gained so much more knowledge on how fascinating the body is, how capable it is, but most importantly how vulnerable it is if we don't take care of it.

It is through this education and experience, I provide proven, research-based tools and strategies to help clients improve their health challenges and outcomes. My goal is to help clients find their own unique version of balance that is right for them.

Wellness is a journey and as your health coach, I empower you by understanding and changing the things you can control in your life and how those things have an impact on your overall health and wellbeing.
